BYRAM, Joyce Muriel (nee Trevithick)
On November 16, 2012, after a long and difficult illness, Joyce passed away peacefully at the age of 84.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Bud; her children Hazel (Mike), Ron (Linda), Ken (Ellen) and Darlene (Brad); grandchildren Lisa (Joey), Keyton, Nathan, Jared, Amy, Greg, Tessa, Joe and Eric; sisters Shirley and Audrey; sister-in- law Edith and many nieces and nephew. Joyce was predeceased by her darling grandson Brodie.
Joyce was born in Islay, Alberta and grew up in the area. She loved farm life and especially her horses. Moving away from home at age 17 she began teaching with a Normal certificate. One of her early jobs was at Faust, Alberta where she met the love of her life, Bud.
Joyce followed Bud throughout his career to many places in Alberta. She raised children and continued with her career between moves and newborns.
Joyce loved teaching and was proud of her accomplishments. In 1968 she returned to school, attending the University of Calgary and worked diligently to graduate with a degree in education. A career move with Bud in 1973 saw them back in Drayton Valley. There Joyce was given the opportunity to grow and use her talents in teaching a wonderful group of children.
Joyce had a passion for golf and travel. Together with Bud they spent several years not only snow birding to Arizona but also travelling to many fantastic places.
As per Joyce's request please no flowers. Instead give to "some worthy cause or to help individuals who have fallen on hard times."
