October 30, 1949 - February 17, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Mona Tansowny/Guenette announces her passing on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at The Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 63 years.
Mona was born to the late Willa and Orest Melynk in Cadomin, AB on October 30, 1949 and grew up in Edmonton where Mona's children were born. She later moved to Red Deer and then Calgary. Mona was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved to travel and would work tirelessly to research and organize trips for family and friends. The yearly family vacation with her children and grandchildren in Fairmont was always a highlight for her. Mona enjoyed entertaining, playing cards, board games and of course charades.
Mona is survived by her loving husband of thirty-three years, Gordon Guenette; children, Todd Tansowny (Randi) of Edmonton, Kari Tansowny of Calgary, Dan Guenette (Sarah) of Calgary and Christopher Guenette (Breanne) of Sherwood Park; six grandchildren; and brother Dave Melynk (Laurel) of Nanaimo, BC.
A Celebration of Mona's Life will be
held at Acadia Recreation Complex in the Rose Hall (240 - 90 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 11:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. Due to catering availability,

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the transplant team and nursing staff at the University of Alberta Hospital as well as the doctors and staff of Unit 39 at Peter Lougheed Centre. Their continuous care, concern and affection was greatly appreciated.
In living memory of Mona Tansowny, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
