McDONALD, Olga (Ollie)
1930 - 2013
Ollie was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930 and passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 82.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by daughter Lori (John); sons Rob and Ron; her granddaughter Lauren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ollie was predeceased by husband Jack; sisters Anne, Mary, Rose, Stevie; brothers John, Jim and Paul and her parents Dora and William.
Mom grew up on the farm in Redwater, AB and after high school started working at Imperial Oil. It was there she met Dad and they were married June 30, 1956. She met many lifelong friends at Esso, as well as at Northlands Race Track. After Dad retired they enjoyed years of travelling south for part of the winter. Mom was passionate about many things. She loved animals, her garden, music, cooking for family and friends and Eskimo football. Her and Dad were original season ticket holders (since 1949) and she continued to attend games until last season.
The spring of 2000 brought great joy to her life when her granddaughter Lauren was born. Mom cherished their time together. Mom considered herself blessed to have so many wonderful friends and loved them all dearly. Mom was kind, proud, generous and strong, and she had a great sense of humor. Ollie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal Service is planned. Instead, she asks that we share a laugh, a memory and a kind deed in her honor. Memorial donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
