Brad SYMES Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brad Symes at the age of 38 years.
Brad will live on in the memories of those who loved him including his wife, Justina; two sons, Max and Leks; parents, Stan and Char; brother, Brent (Micah); two nephews, Colton and Rylen; in-laws, Stu and Janette Jones; brother-in-law, Jeramiah (Chantel) Jones; niece, Kinslee; godfather, Ron (Cheryl); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, firefighters from the City of Edmonton and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at McDougall United Church, 10086 MacDonald Drive, Edmonton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014
A trust has been set up for his sons, Max and Leks. Donations are gratefully appreciated.

What an outstanding young man! I will always remember his enthusiasm, determination, sense of fun and adventure! Brad committed himself to every sport that he undertook and his positive attitude, cooperative nature and competitive spirit earned the respect of his peers and coaches.

I was so sad to hear about Brad's passing. It has been many years since I have seen Brad, but growing up with him throughout Elementary, Junior and Senior High School was a privilege. Words will never fully express the loss the Symes family and the family of firefighters, friends and anyone who knew Brad are going through. Brad was my friend in the early days of Moreland Rd and in Mills Haven. He also installed a devastatingly awesome sound system into one of my first cars. We had coincidental run-in's through the years and the last time we ran into each other was at the Starbucks on 104th ave. we always met with a solid handshake and old memories that took us back to better days. God bless him and may Brad rest in peace.

I can't imagine the pain in your hearts during this difficult time. May you take comfort in reading all these messages, knowing how far his soul touched others. I'll always remember Brad as a "gentle giant" who looked out for me like a big brother during our school years. I certainly loved catching up with Brad in our adult years when I'd run into him in Harbour Park, or on the job. He always had time for me and was so genuinely interested in what was going on in my life.

News of Brad's passing has saddened me and many of my colleagues who taught Brad at Clover Bar Junior High. The descriptors of him that I have read on these pages certainly apply to his early teen years. He had that smile, sense of fun and gentle disposition. I watched Brad play hockey in Portland his whole time there. I "adopted" him (as many other hockey players) and made them crocheted blankets for their road trips. Made cookies and worked on Brad's scrape books his last 2 years with the Winterhawks. I send love and pray for the peace only God can give, to his parents, brother, wife, children, family & friends. A loss too soon, that never makes total sense.
