Margaret Tinney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 10, 2006.
TINNEY, Margaret Helen (nee Matthewson) Died peacefully in the presence of her daughter Adrienne on January 5, 2006 at the age of 85. Born in Oxton, Scotland to Ronald and Isabella Matthewson. Youngest sister of George and Roualyn (Sonny), all deceased. Also predeceased by her cherished husband, Captain Kenneth Raymond Tinney in 1987. She is remembered with much love by daughter Adrienne (Terry) Melendy and her bonnie wee lassie Bronwyn, close friends and relatives too numerous to mention. You know who you are and what you meant to her. Margaret immigrated at age nine and the family settled in the Kitscoty area. She upheld a family military tradition as a CWAC in Ottawa (Battle of the Rideau Canal) 1943 - 1946. She married Ken in 1953 and they enjoyed 33 years of Army life especially in Fort Churchill and Washington DC. Moose Jaw was their final posting and became home for 22 years. Margaret retired from the Moose Jaw Shopper at age 72 and moved to Edmonton where she lived happily for 13 years. She had just moved to Calgary weeks prior to her death. A wonderful Scottish Lady with a full and happy life. There will be no service. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 7K7. Scottish hills are seen where Channelkirk stands fair. Kenneth awaits me there.... Yours aye, Margaret PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES, Calgary, 1-888-216-5111
