Dad was born in Whitford, AB on September 4, 1920, the youngest of 9 children. In September 1941 he began teaching, with 54 students in a one-room school house in Beaverdam, AB. He spent the next three years teaching in Northern B.C. and Alberta, and from 1946-1979 he taught at Willingdon School. He received his B.Ed. from the U of A in 1969. He served as an MLA from 1952 to 1958. Nick married Mary Semeniuk (Lichuk) on August 28, 1952. They taught school and farmed together in Willingdon, and raised eight children. Nick loved to be involved in the community and served in many capacities in farm organizations and his church as well as serving as a school councillor and school board trustee. In his own unique way, he stressed the importance of love, unity, education and respect for each other. He was so proud of his family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Willingdon Eagle Hill Lodge and most recently, Dr. Mohammed, Karen Carter and the staff at Lamont Health Care Centre who cared for him in his final months. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Willingdon Rec Centre with Pastor Keith Axford of First Baptist Church of Smoky Lake officiating. On Wednesday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. the Funeral Rite will be celebrated by Father Benny Ambrosie at the St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Boriwitzi, Willingdon. Dushenski Family
We know how special your Dad was.
He had a commonality with my Dad in Education and that was kindness -- toward teachers, children and the community.
Your Mother would bring a bundle of pictures of family & we'd have tea.
Your Dad spent last Xmas with us. He was in his element with children around enjoying our library & history books & Jenna's nachynka and kutya. Elayna led us in Carols & he was so proud.
This Xmas we visited him at Lamont & as we approached he waved his hand & called Stan by name.
He was an intelligent, worldly man and worthy of much praise.
May these days pass by with dignity and grace in eternal memory for your Dad and your Mom. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

To the Dushenski family,
Your dad was my teacher in grade nine at the Willingdon school in 1956. I felt privileged to have him as my teacher then and even today realize how much influence he had in my life. He was a super math and social studies teacher, always pushing us to do better, read the newspapers and learn more about the world. His experience in politics and other interests were shared with the class in hopes of stimulating our interest for higher learning and adventure outside of our small community. We all felt privileged to have him as a teacher and mentor. I am very sorry for your loss.

Dear Family.
Willingdon has lost an icon, historian, educator and loyal citizen. In Junior High he introduced us to Governance as an M.L.A.His legacy is enormous to Willingdon, but not as much as his influence in developing our character of responsibility and principles, even though we did not realize it until our adult life.He used different methods even throw chalk at some students to get our attention and it land on our brylcream waves. To most of us even today he was always Mr,to his close friends he was affectionly known as "Jake".
On behalf of the Haydey Family, we extend our sincere sympathy and may His Memories be Eternal.

HE WAS GOD'S GIFT TO ALL THAT KNEW HIM. HE GAVE HIS WHOLE LIFE TO HIS BIRTHPLACE COMMUNITY, FROM HIS INITIAL EDUCATION IN THE LITTLE SCHOOL OF SHESKOWITS TO THE EDUCATOR HE BECAME IN THE WILLINGDON SCHOOL. HE GAVE BACK SO VERY MUCH IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS TO THE PEOPLE OF HIS COMMUNITY.
MAY THE LORD GRANT HIM ETERNAL REST.
