Eric PATERSON Obituary
On January 14, 2014, Eric Paterson of Sherwood Park passed away suddenly at the age of 84.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bobbie; two sons Craig and Doug (Michelle); daughter-in-law Annie; two grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla; sisters-in- law, Betty and Edna Paterson, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Gertrude and his brothers, Peter and Harry.
Eric was a long-time employee with the City of Edmonton for 42 years as a machinist with ETS. He served for many years on the ATU local 569 executive board. Eric also served for 11 years on the WCB appeals commission.
He greatly enjoyed sports and was the goaltender for the 1952 Olympic gold medal winning team, The Edmonton Mercurys.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, South of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eric can be made to Parkinson Alberta.

Sorry to hear of Eric's passing. The Patersons have been long standing friends of my family in Scotland. I always have fond memories of meeting Eric as a child into a adulthood for his kindness and the mischevious twinkle in his eye. He will be much missed and our thoughts are with Barbara and the family.

We share in the great sadness of the loss of Eric, a long time friend and well respected hockey referee. Eric and I travelled together for a lot of years, covering many miles in Northern Alberta, through all kinds of weather. To the Paterson Family we send our sincerest condolences. Many lives are truly richer for having known Eric.

I had the greatest respect for Eric during the time I knew him and always remember him as quiet spoken and dedicated. No words can express the sense of loss he leaves behind, but I will say that he left the world a better place than when he entered it. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I'm so sad to hear of Eric's passing. Working with him and Doug for over 35 years at Transit was a joy.Our years together on the union executive will never be forgotten.What a fine family you have Bobbie. His Olympic Metal was a great source of pride for him; but to those of us who knew him, the gold is the memories we hold of him in our hearts.

So sorry to hear of Eric's passing. I have many memories of the Paterson family. Mom (Marg Stewart) always had a close relationship with her cousins and enjoyed meeting with them and keeping in touch.

I am sorry to hear of Eric's passing. We were close friends in our younger days, and played hockey together, the year after The Edmonton Mercury's won the Olympic Gold Medal, with Eric as goaltender.Our paths would cross occasionally after we had married and were raising families. Eric was a fine, honest and ethical man. My sincerest condolences to all the family. May God bless you all as you mourn his loss.
