STUMBUR, Barbara (nee Piercy)
On March 26, 2013, one day after her 81st birthday, Barbara Jean Stumbur reunited with her husband Bob, who passed away five years ago on March 25. Barb is survived by her son Darren (Brenda), grandchildren Aidan and Jenna, her son Robert, granddaughter Cathy, siblings Ruth Piercy, Lois (Rob) Bouchard, Kay Bordeau, and Keith Piercy as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Malcolm.
Barb graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Sherbrooke Quebec School of Nursing in 1952. She moved to Edmonton in 1955 and worked at the General and Misericordia Hospitals. She and Bob married in 1957.
Her favorite leisure activities included traveling, crossword puzzles, dog walking, volunteering at the zoo, exploring nature, painting, writing, playing board games, visiting and reading. Barb's quick wit prevailed even during her health challenges.
Many thanks to the compassionate staff at St. Michaels Grove Manor in Spruce Grove and Westview Health Centre in Stony Plain. Barb always appreciated your kindness and caring.
A Memorial Service will be held at Howard & McBride Westlawn Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barb's name would be appreciated to the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 - 163 Street N.W., Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2.
