My Love,
You might be gone but you will live in my heart forever!

One year before I met Boris and Sabina, I lost someone very dear to me. When I was first introduced to Boris, I was struck by how he reminded me of my Godfather. Because of that, I felt a connection with him. As I got to know him better, I discovered what a remarkable person he was.
What I loved most about Boris was his sense of humor. He loved to joke with my dad and my uncle, and they teased each other about everything. My husband, Nicolas, soon joined their inner circle, and I’ll always envision them in our kitchen, with rum and coke in their glasses and laughter on their faces. Boris’ smile was contagious, and it’s imprinted on my heart.
When I gave birth to my daughter, Boris was overjoyed. They loved each other dearly and he was a giant teddy bear with her. Angelina has a special affection for Boris, and he possesses a special place in her heart.
Boris was one of the first people who made my husband feel welcomed in Canada. They shared many lengthy conversations (as well as many cigarettes) and despite the language barrier, they always understood and appreciated each other. Nico didn’t think of him as a friend of my parents; he considered Boris a treasured friend of his own.
To say that Boris was “like family” doesn’t do justice to how my daughter, my husband, or I feel about him. He was not “like family”. He is family.
Love is unbreakable, and the bonds that love creates are everlasting. The people we love most never actually leave us. We may not see or hear them, but they’re always there. Like all those I love, Boris will always be with me. He’ll live forever in my thoughts, and forever in my heart. And I’m grateful to know that I can always find him there.

Ima bica koja nitko ne može zamijeniti.
Ona dolaze ko pjesma
koju smo negdje zaboravili
Ona su san bez kojeg smo umirali…
Ako ih izgubimo
Sve smo izgubili.
Ima bica koja nitko ne može zamijeniti

I will always remember Boris as a great teammate and friend. I'm very glad to have known him and shared some good times over soccer and the occasional beer. The picture to the right is exactly how I will remember him. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Even I just met Boris for twice when we played together soccer and beered together after soccer, Boris left me a deep impression by his friendly smile and honest advice --- UofA and Canada is a good place for living and working. Now it's so sorry that we lost Boris in this nice place and country. May Heavens rest his soul.

Dear Sabina, Yanja and Igor,
Words fail me, which is ironic as words never seemed to fail Boris. He could tell a story like nobody I've ever met. I miss him, but am thankful for the time we had with him. We grieve for him and with you.

A Native American Prayer:

I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still - in each new dawn.
