Passed away in peace on August 14, after a brave fight with cancer. She was deeply loved by family and friends, her husband of 56 years, John, and son and daughter Barry and Brenda, and their families, including grandchildren Matteo, Enrico, Nashon and Joshua, and relatives and in-laws, Fran and Cec, Sandra and Len, Clarence and Joyce, Bob and Ruby, and her niece, Carol Brush. Over the years, Carol maintained a wide circle of dear friends, tracing back to her first job at Imperial Oil, followed by the Juilliard Club and Vogue Modeling agencies, which she co- founded in her twenties.
At the time of her passing, Carol had formed countless friendships through her full and vibrant life with John that involved a wide variety of activities and clubs including the Edmonton Golf and Country Club, the Shrine Club, the Kinsmen Club and the Sun Lakes Country Club in Arizona, where she and John spent winters for the last 30 years. Golfing was an important (and frustrating!) part of her life through which she developed many close friendships, including "Bernie and the Broads" who ensured fun and laughter on their yearly trips together.
Carol was well known for her warm and caring heart, her passion for sewing and fashion combined with her beauty which endured over the years, and her feisty spirit. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother, always putting her family first, and traveling long distances to see her daughter and grandchildren in Italy and Africa. She will be deeply missed and profoundly remembered by all.
A cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Capital Care Norwood (Pallative Care Unit). Please sign the Barton family guestbook at www.remembering.ca.
