HENDRA, Donald Ray
July 18, 1920 - December 25, 2012
Beloved father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Christmas morning in Edmonton at the age of 92.
Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Lily "Vicky" of 51 years. He leaves behind two daughters, Diane Hendra and Patricia (Glenn) Lee; five grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; and his brother, Roy (Addie) Hendra.
Born in Port Talbot, South Wales, he settled in Edmonton in 1923 and remained a lifelong resident. He served in the army in WWII and will be honoured as a military veteran. Don will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour as well as his love of gardening and intricate woodworking. The family would like to thank those who patiently cared for him at Shepherd's Gardens.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Hainstock's Funeral Home (9810 - 34 Avenue, Edmonton). Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
