June 9, 1913 – March 22, 2013
Surrounded by family, our beautiful Mother and Matriarch of the Busby family passed away peacefully in her 100th year. Gone to her Eternal Home with God, and her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Alexander (Stephanie), Ken (Judie), Roger (Marion); daughters, Sharon (Jean-Pierre), Ruth (Tony), Joan (Don); grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie), Mark (Adrienne), Christine (Peter), Brandee (Hugo), Kristel (Joe), Blaine (Elizabeth), Jonathan (Kim), Ryan (Danielle), Cora (Dave); and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Max, Michael, Océanne, Sienna, Elizabeth, Elena, Mélodie, Logan, Isla, Joshua, and Alexander. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends who she cherished deeply. Doris was predeceased by husband, Alexander; her parents, Dorofty Turesky and Paraska Maxamniuk; granddaughter, Kelly Busby; daughter, Linda Busby; brothers, Bill, John, Nick; and sisters, Mary, Helen, Kay, Sarah, and Cora.
Doris was known for her many talents, most notably her excellent cooking skills. She was well-known for her traditional Ukrainian food, especially her cabbage rolls, and perogies, but was famous for her delicious apple pies. The devoted Oilers fan loved to garden, was a naturally skilled seamstress, and never shied away from a good game of Scrabble, which always brought out her rarely seen competitive side. As a mother of seven, even camping with all of the children didn't prove too big a feat. She would pack up the bedding, coolers, and made it fun for the whole family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by children, especially her great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff at Jasper Place Continuing Care for their wonderful, compassionate care.
