SOPROVICH, Douglas John
April 21, 1961 – November 9, 2012
Peacefully and at home with his wife Marie, his son Levi, their beloved family pet Ginger and other family by his side, Doug gently slipped away on Friday night after a long and courageous journey with cancer.
Doug was an entrepreneurial family man who was deeply passionate about doing his part in making the world a better place. Doug was an artist in every regard and whether it was a picture he was painting or a home he was designing his work was impeccable.
Doug is survived by his wife Marie and their son Levi and by his parents John and Reta Soprovich, his siblings Judi Routier (Dean), Les Soprovich (Karen) and Linda Bergem (Ron). Doug has parents-in-law (Frank and Phil Sopracolle), many brothers and sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends who treasure their relationship and deep loving connection with Doug and the gift he brought by just being himself.
A deep feeling of gratitude goes out to all who helped us in this journey, family, friends, the doctors and nurses at the Cross, WCB, Home Nursing Staff, Dr. David Hasinoff, Reverend Patrick Cameron and so many others. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held on Friday, November 16 at 4 p.m. at the Centre for Spiritual Living 7621-101 Avenue Edmonton AB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Patient Centred Care or to the Educational Trust Fund set up for Levi Soprovich at RBC.
