CANCILLA, Edward Cecil
June 7, 1919 - April 26, 2013
On Friday, April 26, 2013 Edward "Eddie, Ted" Cecil Cancilla passed away peacefully at the grand age of 93.
Ted was one of ten children born to Mary and Jack Cancilla of Winnipeg. Being raised in a loving, boisterous, devout family gave Ted the lifelong skills he came to rely on over the course of his 93 year adventure.
Taught by the best (Grandma and Grandpa), he was generous of heart, supporter of over 15 charities, had devotion to family, possessed a strong work ethic and an unshakable faith in God.
While his formative years were in Winnipeg, he proudly served as a Flight Sergeant in the RCAF in Scotland during WWII and returned as a proud veteran who was grateful to be home on Canadian soil.
His sales career brought him to Alberta where he fell in love with the golf courses and curling rinks.
Ted believed in giving back to his community as a coach/mentor with Junior Men's Curling, past President of NACA, Red Cross donor/ volunteer.
Ted will be missed by his dear friend, George; as well as his family and friends. A special thank you to the staff of the Edmonton General for their kindness and care.
As per his wishes, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his memory on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. at St. Joseph's Basilica, 10044 - 113 Street, Edmonton. Interment will be at the Assinboine Gardens/ Assumption Section in Winnipeg where he will join his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for Ted are greatly appreciated to the Marion Centre of Edmonton or a charity of your choice.
