Elizabeth JENKINS Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Dec. 17, 2012.
JENKINS, Elizabeth Mundell
Elizabeth passed away at the Good Samaritan Southgate on December 12, 2012. Elizabeth was born on June 22, 1923 in Beverly, Alta, the third child for Sandy and Jennie (Sellar) Shennan. The family later moved to Spruce Grove, Alta where Liz grew up.
Liz was predeceased by her infant daughter Randine Elizabeth in 1957 and her husband William George Jenkins in 1986, her parents Janet (Jennie) in 1944 and Alexander (Sandy) in 1956, also; Shennan family members, Mary Darling 1994; Robert McLaren 1999; A.H. (Alec) 2003; William 2004; and nephews, Wayne (Bunkey) Shennan 1982; Edward Allan Pywell 1972.
Liz is survived by her sisters and their families: Jean and Charlie Sherwood, Helen and Edward Pywell; sisters-in-law and their families: Marian, Elma, and Christine; Mary's son Scott and Wendy and their families.
Liz and Bill travelled extensively after Bill retired due to ill health. Liz spent the last years of her life in the Southgate Good Samaritan as she suffered with Alzheimer's condition. Nephew and niece Joe, Dianne and Elma visited Liz at the centre. So kind and thoughtful as always. Marian and Liz had a great time when Marian visited. Lots of singing and Liz could sing. Jokes and laughter were enjoyed by all. Special days were always remembered by Janet. Cake, balloons, and a good time too. A light-weight bit of fun as well. Liz had her eye on Guy, but Janet saw him first. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by all.
A Celebration of Life for Elizabeth will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Howard & McBride Westlawn Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Road. A viewing will take place one hour prior to service with Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
