TROTT, Eva (nee Sawka)
January 29, 1928 - February 10, 2013
Eva was born in Thorhild, Alberta, to Victor and Pearl Sawka, who came to Alberta in the 1890's.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Nick, Ted, and Alec, and sisters Rose Kalweit, Anna, Veronica, Julia Sadlak, Mary Malofe, and Jennie Brown.
Eva took her public schooling in Thorhild, and graduated from the University of Alberta Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She married Ed Trott in 1956. They had three wonderful children, Barbara, Murray, and Valerie. In addition, Eva leaves three granddaughters, Monica, Brigid, and Naomi, two brothers, Bill (Annette) and Walt (Barbara), one sister, Emma Vold (Tony), and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Eva was a hard worker, friendly, and a very good and supportive wife and mother. She had a wonderful personality, a good sense of humour, a ready laugh, and was full of common sense. She was an active sportswoman and an active member of the Royal Glenora Club, participating in badminton, bowling, and curling over the years, and playing tennis into her 80's.
Over her life, Eva was active in University of Alberta Hospital Nurses Alumni, and was involved with Lions Club, law wives curling, Junior League, Girl Guides and Canadian Girls in Training. She enjoyed learning, visiting relatives and friends, seeing new places, and new experiences. Together with Ed, she travelled the world, visiting six continents and over 45 countries.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to Myra Colanggo and the staff at Canterbury Lane and South Terrace Continuing Care Centre for the compassion and care they provided for Eva.
There will be a memorial gathering on Thursday, February 14, at 3 p.m., at the Royal Glenora Club, 11160 River Valley Road, Edmonton.
Charitable contributions in memory of Eva may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5H 4K1.
