On Wednesday, November 7, 2012, Florian Smyl of Mayerthorpe, AB, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years.
Florian was the fourth eldest son of his mother, Zofia (1996) and his dad, Ignacy (1977). Florian will always be remembered and loved by his brothers and sister, Leonard (Leona) of Mallaig, Bernard (Pauline) of St. Paul, John, Mike (Karen), all of Whitecourt, Henry of St. Paul, Joe (Maureen) of Whitecourt, George of St. Paul, Eileen (Wayne) Junck of Powell River, BC; numerous nieces, nephews; as well as great and great- great-nieces and nephews. Florian's best friend, Cinders, weeps at the loss of her Master. Predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Marlene and Mary.
Florian was in the family business at Pioneer Motors (1957) and Smyl Chev Olds as a partsman. Upon retiring he became a farmer. Pastimes included fishing, bird and game hunting, horseshoes, cribbage and camping. Most important, he was a loved brother and uncle. Rest in Peace Florian.
Prayers Monday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 5540 Mink Creek Road, Whitecourt, AB.
Mass of the Resurrection Tuesday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Paulson Kannanaikal cmi officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayerthorpe Arena or Swimming Pool, c/o Town of Mayerthorpe, Box 420, Mayerthorpe, AB. T0E 1N0.
