H. Paul Stallknecht, RCMP S/Sgt. retired, of Thorsby passed away suddenly on February 20, 2013 at the age of 78 years.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine, children Kim Stallknecht and Curt of Vancouver and Colin (Carol) of Calgary. Also survived by grandson Erik Stallknecht. Lovingly remembered by former wife Dorothy (David) Earl of Vancouver, the mother of his children.
He is survived by sister Rose Mertz of Stony Plain and brothers Henry (Dorothy), Kurt (Eleanor) and Gary (Ilsa) all of Edmonton.
Also lovingly remembered by stepdaughter Kimberly Johnson (Blair) of Stony Plain and stepson John Glunz (Shelene) of Thorsby and step-grandsons Logan Johnson and Brett Glunz and step-granddaughters Emily Johnson and Alyssa Glunz.
Paul was predeceased by parents Heinz and Eva Stallknecht of Thorsby, AB and brother- in- law Wally Mertz of Stony Plain.
Paul's 26 year RCMP career was served with distinction, stationed first in Newfoundland and retiring in Calgary, AB. He continued
work as security with Dome Petroleum in Tuktoyuktuk, NWT, followed by 10 years at the Edmonton Art Gallery as building supervisor, chief of security. He enjoyed retirement as an avid outdoorsman.
Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 5115 - 48 Avenue, Thorsby.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated.
