BAPTISTE, Jean-Adele Craig
March 4, 1937 - August 10, 2014
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Jean earned her Arts and Education degrees at the University of Alberta where she was active in the Gateway Newspaper and Studio Theatre. She was a keen member of the United Church Young Peoples. After teaching in Bentley, Alberta and Ross Shepphard and Paul Kane High Schools, she ventured with CUSO to Grenada where she taught at the G.B.S.S. There she met and married Jack Baptiste and made Grenada home. Jean was a loved and respected teacher, mother, business manager, lifelong reader, avid bridge player. She passed away peacefully with family at her side in Toronto Ontario.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack Baptiste and her parents: Bessie and Herb Craig. She is survived by 2 children and 4 stepchildren: Lincoln Baptiste, Elizabeth Harding, Sandra Sjostrom, Deborah, Brian, and Ashley Baptiste. Grandchildren: Cree and Summer Harding; Julian and Ava Baptiste; Shaun and Brandon Johnson, and; Myles and Emily Baptiste. Sisters: Phyllis Craig and Carol (Roger) Sims.
We will celebrate Jean's memory in all 3 of the places that were home to her and her final resting place will be with her husband Lincoln Edmund Jack Baptiste in the Caribbean Sea.
Thursday, August 14 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Harding Residence in Toronto
Monday, August 18 - 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 45 Inglewood Dr., St. Albert
Saturday, August 23 - 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Baptiste Residence in Grenada.
