McCANN, Lyle and Marie
Lyle and Marie McCann, in the golden years of a rich and beautiful life, tragically disappeared on July 3, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, which would have been their 59th Wedding Anniversary.
Lyle and Marie are survived by their three children: Bretton (Mary Ann), Lance (Irene) and Trudy; five grandchildren: Brett (Selina), Nicole (Casey), Russell, Mika and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren: Benson and Chantelle.
Lyle was born near Red Deer, Alberta on August 24, 1931 to Tom and Estella McCann. He is survived by three brothers: Grant (Viola), Jack (Betty) and Clifford (Mary Lou); and a sister: Maxine (Fred). Lyle was predeceased by a sister: Lois.
Marie was born in Torrington, Alberta, October 15, 1932 to Emil and Anna Waltz. She is survived by two sisters: Lydia (Tony) and Alice (Tom). Marie was predeceased by two brothers: Victor and Don; and two sisters: Alvina (Alfred) and Verna (Fred).
Lyle and Marie were married July 30, 1952 in Torrington, Alberta. They resided in St Albert since 1964.
Lyle was a long-haul trucker for most of his working career regularly travelling to points in Alberta, British Columbia and the rest of North America. In their later years, Lyle and Marie loved travelling with their motor home. For many winters, they would travel to the United States for several months. In summer months, they would take weekend trips to points within Alberta. They particularly loved to fish at a favorite campground near Athabasca.
In a celebration of their life, a Memorial Service will be held at the St. Albert Catholic Church (7 Vital Avenue) on July 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
As a family, we wish to express our gratitude for your many kindnesses and support, and welcome your attendance at the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Search and Rescue Association of Alberta ( www.saralberta.ca ).

Hello, I have been following this tragedy since the beginning. I just returned from a 5 week trip and hoped for some positive news regarding this. I am so sorry that this lovely couple had to be the victims of such a cruel and heartless crime. You are in my prayers and fear not, God WILL deal with the perpetrators. God bless all of you and may you feel His peace and love. Fort McMurray resident.

To all the McCann family:
The memorial service was very beautiful and so very well done. Kelly did a fantastic job in leading it. We laughed and cried with you as memories were shared by your family and we got to know Lyle and Marie even more than we had over this past year. It was wonderful to be there with you, and it could not have been a more beautiful day after all the rain we've had this month. Keep trusting that someday your parents/grandparents will be found. You have so many warm memories with which to remember them. Believe in your hearts that they are watching over you now and that they will always be with you in spirit.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

To the McCann Family
I have read about your parents' disappearance since it happened. I cannot imagine the heart-wrenching pain you have endured. I don't believe there is ever "closure", but hope that your pain will somehow become less acute as time passes.
God bless you and your parents. Your love for them is so evident and they must have been very proud of such a strong family.
