MCELWAINE, Matthew Alexander
January 1, 1977 – May 7, 2018
On May 7, 2018 Matthew McElwaine of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away at the age of 41 years. Matthew was a loving husband, father, son and friend.
Matthew is survived by his wife Denise, sons Kian and Collin, mother Marion McKeand, father Clint, stepmother Dolene, stepfather Terry Clement, brother Mason Clement and grandmother Audrey McKeand.
Matthew was born in Edmonton and during his early school years he had the leading role in an operetta and travelled to Japan in a student exchange program.
Matthew completed the Baccalaureate Program at Harry Ainley High School and played football. For several years, he was part of the South West United soccer team where he made many lasting friendships. Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Environmental Engineering and went to work for Public Works Canada as an award winning Project Manager.
Matthew was an avid soccer player and coach. Matthew loved skiing, surfing, cycling, physical fitness and travelling. He was an accomplished builder and renovator. Matthew had a love for learning new languages, he studied Spanish and worked as a construction worker in Mexico to practice his Spanish speaking skills. He enjoyed all kinds of creative challenges.
A service for Matthew will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish at 13 Brower Dr, Sherwood Park with a reception to follow.
Donations in Mathew's honour may be made to a charity of your choice or to a fund for Kian and Collin's education at: family
Matthew will be sadly missed by all.
