YAMADA, Mitsuko Pearl
September 21, 1922 - May 16, 2012
We are beside ourselves with sadness to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother (Mitsuko-san, Mitsi, Mits, Mickey).
She leaves behind to mourn, her daughter Carole Eder, her granddaughter Chantal Eder, her brothers Yoshihara Uyenaka, Masayuki Uyenaka, her sisters Clare Yamasaki, Mary Tonegawa, Ida Uyenaka, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Hiroshi (Joe) in 1999.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her Life will take place on Sunday, June 3 from 2 to 4 p.m., with a short program beginning at 2:30 p.m., in Carole's Japanese garden at 11130-65 Street, Edmonton. Friends and neighbours are welcome to attend. Our family celebration will take place in Toronto at a later date.
Mitsuko was sweet and loving, an amazing grace who was always thinking of others. Her final words, in Japanese were: "Minnasama, domo arigato domo domo." "Everyone, thank you so much."
"Otsukare-sama deshita" is a Japanese expression of hard work. Doing one's best in life is a Japanese way of contributing and receiving this compliment is an honour.
"Otsukare-sama deshita Mitsuko-san."
We will miss you tremendously.
