Some how I missed Muriel's passing and for that I am greatly saddened. Muriel was my hero, so intelligent, reasoned, caring. She always counselled me "not to burn my bridges" but then politics just wasn't any fun without her. I will miss you my friend, but then heaven will be a much better run place with you there. My condolences to the family.

Even though it has been many years since we saw each other I always considered Muriel a friend. The last time we met was a girl's lunch in Calgary and we had a very good visit. We talked politics, people and family. I think we connected not only because we worked for our community of Fort Saskatchewan and the Alberta Liberal Party, but our common background in that Muriel was from Scotland and I was from across that water in Northern Ireland. On a number of occasions Muriel gave me sound advise on political issues and I always admired and respected her judgment. She was one of the best.
My deepest sympathy to you Abdul and family.

How sad we are to learn of Muriel' passing. We will always remember her zest for life, great wit and her contribution to life in Fort Saskatchewan and then in Provincial politics. We know every day is a gift and we will make them count. Our love to you all. Sallie and Malcolm Johnson

We are saddened by your loss. We remember Muriel as a vibrant, and friendly person with a passion for living. Her laughter filled a room! She was strong in her convictions and led with compassion. We were fortunate to have known her in Breton and to have crossed paths again years later through music and the library board.
May you, Abdul and family, find comfort and peace in the days ahead

Abdul, Amanda, Ross, Lucinda and Vanessa and the Family:
The loss of one's spouse, mother, grand parent and friend leaves an empty feeling in our hearts. Yet Muriel fills our minds and hearts with the memories of a person with a zest and purpose for life. Always do your best, always do the right thing for your fellow "man". As a member of Fort Saskatchewan Council and Mayor, Muriel championed the community needs. These same traits were demonstrated as MLA and other leadership roles she served, up to and including the completion of the Strathcona County Public Library. These are fond memories of a vibrant and influential lady in our lives. Blessings.

Dear Dr. Abdurahman, Amanda, Ross, Lucinda & Vanessa:
I remember the day the "new" Doctor came to town and we had "new" classmates at the Breton Elementary School! Mrs. Abdurahman was a leader in the CGIT program and I remember her words to me as she judged a fashion show--"a fine young lady walks with the points of her shoes in the direction of her travel!"
I believe we are who we are today as a result of the people we meet and the lessons we have learned from all those we share in our life journey. At the age of 12, Mrs. Abdurahman helped point my life's journey in the proper direction.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
