It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Nora May Law (nee Short) on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the age of 85 years.
Nora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Barbara McLean, Donald Law (Johanna) and Brian Law (Pamela); seven grandchildren, Jimmy and Coralie McLean, Graeme, Erik and Alexander Law, and Kennedy and Sara Law; three brothers, Alan Short (Gwen), Clem Short (Jerri) and James Short (Darlene); sister-in-law Lorraine Brown (Ron); nieces Lorna, Lorraine, Marla, Tammy, Sonia, Jill, Sara, Amy, Krista, Patricia, Michelle, Nicole; nephews Todd and Gordon; along with many relatives and friends.
Nora was predeceased by her husband Jim Law in 2007; her brother Bob Short (Norma) in 2003; her father Bill Short in 1981; her mother Dolly Short in 1964; her sister-in-law Gail Short (Alan) in 2007; and her son-in-law Dan McLean (Barbara) in 2013.
Mom was born and raised in Clive, Alberta. She trained to become a registered nurse at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. She took pride in working in the nursing profession, especially with her work in obstetrics, helping new mothers and babies. Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and playing bridge. She was a lively conversationalist and was always ready to pitch in. She will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue, Edmonton. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nursing and caregiver staff at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for their great care and compassion during Mom's lengthy stay post-surgery. We would also like to thank Dr. Kaasa, her family physician for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
