LUCHKA, Olga October 5, 1934 - July 8, 2018 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Olga Luchka (nee Tkachuk) the evening of July 8, 2018, at the age of 83 years, with her husband by her side. Olga will forever be lovingly remembered by Eugene, her husband of over 58 years; daughters Lorri (Stuart Crosley), Genia (Bud Ettinger) and Darlene; grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma, and Zachary; sister-in-law, Marlene Johnstone; brother-in-law, Boris (Karen) Luchka; and sister-in-law, Julie Tkachuk. She will be dearly missed by other family and good friends. The Tkachuk's lived on a farm in the Glendon area and Olga's education took place in the surrounding area, graduating in 1954. Olga trained at the University of Alberta to achieve her Diploma in Nursing in 1958. After graduating, Olga worked in Obstetrics. While at the U of A, Olga met Eugene at socials at St. John's Institute. They married in 1959 and upon his graduation in 1960 they started a vagabond life for 7 years. They lived in various communities, from Grande Prairie to Lethbridge as Eugene worked for the Department of Highways. In 1966, they were able to settle down in Edmonton, bought a home, and joined St. Andrew's Parish in the fall of 1967. Olga joined the Ladies Auxiliary and became very involved, holding several executive positions culminating with her receiving a 50 year service pin in 2017. The ultimate homemaker, she made our home a place full of love and brimming with wonderful memories. She always made sure our gatherings were accompanied by a great meal. Prayer Service Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 9831 - 75 Street, Edmonton. Funeral Rite Friday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Interment in St. Stephen's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared through www.parkmemorial.com.
