SPARROW, Robert William (Bert)
(January 24, 1931- March 17, 2013)
Bert passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013, peacefully with his family at his side. He is survived by his children, Heather (Ron), Hal (Kathy), Colleen (Steve), and Ross; as well as his grandchildren, Graham, Jodi and Callie Sparrow, Colin and Larissa Murphy, Jeff and Dan Barsotti and their families. His beloved wife Norma predeceased Bert, as well as his parents, Ernest and Marie. Also, preceded in death were his three brothers, James, Murrey, Donald and his sister-in-law Lucy. Bert was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
He was born and raised in the community of Calmar, AB where he married Norma in 1953. They spent fifty-seven wonderful years together. They lived and raised their family in Leduc, AB before moving to Calgary in 1982. Bert and Norma developed lifelong friendships in Leduc and Calgary. Bert was an electrician and entrepreneur and served as a director on many boards, both public and private. Bert and Norma spent many years travelling together with friends and family. He was a man with strong commitments, values and faith and was a mentor to many. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends and business associates.
A Funeral Service will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home (17 Avenue and Springbank Road, Calgary - chapel and reception are on the left side, cemetery is on the right) on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calgary Society of Persons with Disabilities (Sparrow Family Fund) at 3410 Spruce Drive SW, Calgary, Ab T3H 1M9.
