Warna MOORE Obituary
Feb. 4, 1950 - January 13, 2012
On Friday, January 13, 2012, Warna Moore of Wetaskiwin passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, at the age of 61 years.
Warna is survived by her loving family; husband, Bill; mother, Marguerite Hopfe; sons, Michael (Marilyn) of Calgary, Riley of Wetaskiwin and Casey (Christie) of Leduc; grandchildren, Matthew, Zion, Willow, Eli, Lily and Fallon; brother, Larry (Cheryl) Hopfe of Westerose; sisters, Barbara (Victor) Gruber of Airdrie and Moira (Martin) Ostensen of Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Warna was predeceased by her father Warren Hopfe in 1992.
Funeral service will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Mark Barylo officiating. Interment will follow at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery. In Warna's memory, donations are gratefully accepted to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation or to the Catholic Social Services 'Sign of Hope' Campaign.

My condolences to Bill and family. Warna and I were school buddies since about 1958 and served together on the Wetaskiwin Composite High School year book. I was fortunate to visit Warna and Bill a few years ago in Wetaskiwin, but unfortunately we had lost touch since then and I was surprised to get a phone call letting me know of her passing. I am so sorry for your loss.

I first got to know Warna when she was a bright energetic new member of the Wetaskiwin Hospital Board. Later, I had the pleasure of serving with her on the David Thompson Health Region Board. Although Warna told me last time we talked that she was facing serious medical issues, it is still a shock to learn of her passing. My sincerest sympathies to Bill and family. Warna will be truly missed.

I was so saddened to read of Warna's passing. We have not seen each other since the end of grade 6 in 1962 when we were transferred to Grande Prairie with the RCMP. In June of1959 we were transferred to Wetaskiwin from Jasper with three weeks remaining in the school year. On the first day of my attendance at the "new school" it was Warna who came up and asked me my name and made me feel so welcome. When grade three ended three weeks later and the teacher was deciding where I should go for grade four it was Warna who said, "let her come with me to my grade four class n September and I did. We became friends and with our birthdays only 8 days apart attended each other's birthday every year. What do I remember about Warna? She had a wonderful smile, was always happy, had a great laugh and always made everyone feel welcome, whether it was to skip at recess, play on the equipment or play a game. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time
