On Christmas Day, Bill passed away peacefully at the age of 96 years.
He will be remembered for all the joy, gentleness and kindness he brought to his loving and devoted wife Rose of 60 years; daughter Gail (Charles, grandchildren Christopher and Amanda, great- grandchildren Kailey, Troy and Henry), son Gary (Sheila, grandchildren Caoimhe, Ciara and Maeve), his only surviving brother Ronald, relatives and friends.
He was a track athlete and avid hockey defenseman. He served as a coder during WWII in the Royal Canadian Navy. Following early retirement from the Canadian National Railway, he took pleasure in his Vegas trips with Rose, card-playing, hymns, music, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to the nurses and staff of Rosewood and Spruce Meadows, as well as the physiotherapists and chaplains of St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital for the care they provided to Bill, and for their support to Rose during the past 2 years. In lieu of other tributes, memoriam donations may be made to the CNIB or one's choice. In celebration of Bill's life, a private burial has already taken place.
