It is with great sadness that the family of John Bereska announce his passing on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the Two Hills Health Care Centre, at the age of 93 years. John leaves to mourn his son, John (Mary); grandsons, Darren (Heather) and Stephen; three great-grandchildren, Noel, Kayla and Kiersten Bereska; four sisters, Stephania Chrapko, Jean Klimchuk, Anne Tymko, and Marie Kupchenko; also sister- in-law, Elsie Bereska. Predeceased by his wife, Mona in 1974; parents, John and Mary; and one younger brother, Metro, as well as one brother in infancy.
John was born on January 5, 1921 at Lac Canard, near St. Paul. He grew up in the Lafond/Brosseau area and attended a country school at Mamaestie. After leaving school at age 15, he spent about 40 years farming, and another 15 years as an Alberta Hail and Crop adjuster/fieldman after retiring to Vegreville in 1974. He enjoyed growing a variety of vegetables in his garden, and had a woodworking hobby.

Funeral service Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Two Hills. Reverend Father Michael Maranchuk officiating with interment in Mamaestie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Brosseau or to a charity of one's choice.
