November 19, 1914 – May 25, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose, known to most as Peggy, Cracknell, at the Youville Home on May 25, 2014, at the age of 99.
Rose Cracknell immigrated to St. Albert with her husband Harry from Watford, England in 1988 at the age of 74. She lived very happily with Harry on Mill Drive for four years and having been a member of the Royal Observer Corps during WWII became a member of the Canadian Legion as well as participating in the Gardening Club and the Seniors' Centre.
After Harry's passing she soon moved to the Chateau Mission Court where she continued to enjoy her life living independently in the residence and joining in the activities, especially the card games and the horse races for the past 18 years, until April of 2014.
She is survived by her son, Haydn; daughter-in-law, Wanda; granddaughter, Tamara; and grandson, Jan and his wife, Mandy.
We wish to thank the staff at the Sturgeon Hospital and the Youville Home for their care and compassion that they displayed, not only to Rose, but also to her family over the past few weeks.
Memorial donations in Peggy's honour may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/NWT Division, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 9Z9 or to the Sturgeon Hospital Foundation, 201 Boudreau Road, St. Albert, Alberta, T8N 9Z9.
