CANETE, Eunice "Nanay"
Eunice Canete, lovingly known as "Nanay" and "Lola," peacefully passed away on May 27, 2014 at Capital Care Lynnwood at the age of 93.
Nanay achieved many titles such as teacher, author, Lola (grandmother), great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother and of course, mom. Born as a proud Filipina, 'Nay also proudly took on her citizenship as a Canadian, sharing patriotism for both the Philippines and Canada. Immigrated to Canada in 1982, she once again took on the role of teacher, but faithfully returned to her husband and children in the Philippines yearly until 2004.
Determined to serve her Lord as a devout Christian, Eunice taught English at Chinese Alliance Manor, led various bible studies, and volunteered at the Market Place Chapel. She was an avid writer. Eunice volunteered with XYZ at West Meadows Baptist Church where her weekly correspondence newsletter would contain details of how seniors are spending their Xtra Years of Zest.
The family of Eunice would like to thank the staff and crews of 4PP Lynnwood Capital Care for their care and compassion for the past years.
Eunice is proudly and fondly remembered by children Jonathan (Ruby), Alexander (Beverly), Noemi (Florencio), Vivian (d. Evan), Napoleon (Aida). Eunice was predeceased by husband Bonifacio, son Laverne, daughter-in-law Omay, son-in-law Evan, and grandsons Norbert and Norman.
Eunice truly leaves behind a legacy of faith and love.
A Viewing will take place on Monday, June 2 at 6 p.m. at Howard & McBride Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Rd. A Celebration of Eunice's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. also at Westlawn Funeral Home.
