I never had the pleasure to take a course from Professor Laux but had the pleasure of retaining him on several occasions. His depth of knowledge in planning, administrative law and litigation strategies were exceptional, always leading my clients to the most favorable results possible. Ever the gentleman and scholar, I will miss his quick wit and empathy for those of us that simply were not blessed with his extraordinary skills.

I was a student at the U of A law school when I met "Freddie" as we affectionately called Professor Laux. He taught me many things about the law including that the law was not always logical. His joke was "How else could you explain planning law?" He was a kind and patient man and an absolute fabulous teacher. I remember his review of case law was often mixed with many of his personal experiences in the real world which made classes interesting. I was always a big fan of Freddie and his soft kind demeanor. I will miss him as will all that were fortunate enough to meet him. Jim Skitsko
