1939 - 2012
John passed away peacefully on April 12, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Left to cherish and honour his memory are the love of his life, and wife of 48 years, 'Jeannie'; his daughters Patti (Robert), Gayle (Rick), and son Greg (Janet); seven special grandchildren: Karlee, Carsen, Paige, Madyson, Mackenna, Reid and Spencer; his brother Harold (Merle), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his golf and coffee buddies
John was born in Climax, Saskatchewan on October 2, 1939 and moved to Moose Jaw in 1940 where he grew up. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating from the faculty of Engineering in 1961. John enjoyed a rewarding 32 year career with Spartan Controls.
John was a dedicated family man who loved all sports, fishing and reading. However, his life long passion was golf. The golf course, any golf course, was his favourite place. His greatest joys in life were his family, friends and many travelling adventures. John was a kind, generous man with uncompromising integrity. His unique character will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held at the Derrick Golf & Winter Club at 2:00 p.m. on April 20, 2012 (3500 - 119 Street). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kids with Cancer ( www.kidswithcancer.ca/ ) or the Alberta Cancer Foundation ( albertacancer.ca/ ).
