LANE, Kenneth Leslie George
November 27, 1948 - October 30 2012
It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Ken.
He leaves special memories that will be cherished by his loving wife Robin, his beautiful dog Annie, and his daughters Melissa (Niall) and Heather. Carter and Sean will miss their Grampa. Ken leaves behind two brothers and five sisters in Australia along with numerous nieces and nephews. Robin's family and Ken's many friends will also mourn his loss. Ken will be fondly remembered for his outlandish sense of humor, never ending stories and his handyman skills. His greatest joy was seeing his friends and family living life to the fullest.
Ken was born in Melbourne Australia but spent most of his time in Edmonton. Ken's love for life and competitive spirit allowed him to travel the world, sail two oceans, run 30 marathons, complete two Ironman Triathlons and run the Canadian Death Race, solo! However, his true passion was sailing his beloved sailboat, Dancin Bear. A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Millwoods United Church, 15 Grand Meadow Crescent, Edmonton.
The Lane family would like to express a heartfelt thank-you to all the staff at the Palliative Care unit at the Grey Nuns Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations on Ken's behalf may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society - 13620 163 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5V 0B2, or to the Palliative End of Life Care Institute - 416 Health Services Center, 1090 Youville Drive, Edmonton, AB, T6L 0A3.
