MACMILLAN, Del Louis
May 26, 1953 ~ November 17, 2012
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Del MacMillan at the age of 59.
Del will always be lovingly remembered by the family he cherished. Siblings; Kevin, Blaine (Claudine), Blair, Muriel (Gary), Keith (Heather). In-laws; Cheryl, Brian (Elaine). Del was a special uncle to: Sean (Christine), Shelley (Laurie), Christina, Dustin (Crystal), Kaitlyn, Kristopher, Nicola, Ruby, Mira, Paris and Lochlan. He was also a great uncle to: Ewan, Chloe, Sadie, Aurora and Dawson. Del was predeceased by his father Don, mother Ruby and sister Donnelle.
Del was born in Grande Prairie on May 26, 1953. He was a man of many skills: from working on the Trans Canada Pipeline in Northern Ontario, to owning and running the family screen print business and then to finally fulfilling a lifelong dream of living in Whitehorse and running a successful home renovation business.
He was a man with nine lives – rallying back from a devastating pipeline accident at the age of 20, becoming a friend of Bill W, overcoming a lung operation, battling prostate cancer and then pancreatic cancer only to find that the cancer had returned some 12 months after a successful operation for the same. Del was a friend to all he met and he will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. His was a Gentle Soul!
