We are saddened to announce that John Franklin Lerbekmo (Jack) PEng. Ph.D has left the rink after a lifetime of stunning games at centre ice. He lived a long and happy life beginning December 8, 1924 in Tofield, Alberta until his death on November 29, 2012 in Edmonton.
Left to mourn him is his loving wife Gloria (her son Jermaine), children Craig (Karen), Janice, Todd, Mona (Trent) and David, grandchildren Christine, Cheryl, Tessa, Kaitlin, Molly, Carolyn, and Michael and great- grandchildren Madeline, Addilee, Alexandra and soon-to-be Jack. He was predeceased by his sister, Norma and his treasured parents Peter and Loolah. He had a wonderful life, serving with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles until 1945. Jack joined the Geology Department at the University of Alberta in 1956 after receiving a B.A. Sc. in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1949 and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1956. His life was filled with family, hockey, Glacioeustatic sea level fall marking the base of supercycle TA1 at 66.5 Ma recorded by the kaolinization of the Whitemud Formation and the Colgate Member of the Fox Hills Formation etc., hockey, family, hockey, hockey, family and family.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at First Memorial - Harmony Chapel, 10541 - 81 Avenue, Edmonton at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service.
Jack requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Edmonton or Calgary Humane Societies.
