Lawrence Davies Ward, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the age of 91 years at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans in Edmonton, Alberta surrounded by his family.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lila Ward; his son and three daughters, Gary (Angie), Lorraine (Jim) Pederson, Penny (Bert) Laing, Katherine (Omar) Aboughoushe; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Dienes. Predeceased by parents, Luke and Lillie and brother, Harold.
Fondly known to his friends and family as "Poppy", he enjoyed a life filled with devotion and accomplishment. Born September 16, 1921, Larry was raised and attended school in Calgary, Alberta where he took pride in receiving Honours standing in Woodwork, Electricity and Metalwork. At only nineteen years of age Larry enlisted into the Armed Forces to serve his country in World War II and received commission as a Wireless Operator in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After returning home in 1946 to an honourable discharge he spent the next thirty years in distinguished public service with the Government of Canada.
Larry had a passion for woodworking that started at an early age and carried well into retirement. He could always be found in his garage working away at what are now cherished and beloved family heirlooms. Larry Ward will be remembered by everyone he met for his kind soul, brilliant blue eyes and everlasting words of wisdom.

Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday, December 9 between 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue.
Funeral Service on Monday, December 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel with interment in Westlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, 4470 McCrae Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5E 6M8.
