On December 7, 2012 at age 87, Peter Shudra passed away peacefully with Elsie his loving wife of 65 years and family at his side.
Peter was born in the Ukraine July 8th, 1925. At two years old he immigrated to Reno, Alberta with his Father Roman and Stepmother. Peter married Elsie, his best friend on September 5, 1947 in Peace River and raised three children. His jobs took them to many places in Alberta and BC where they made many lifelong friends. Peter always worked and played hard. As well as farming in Reno, Peter worked 28 years on the N.A.R. and achieved many awards as a World Book salesman.
Peter and Elsie retired to Westlock AB in 1990, where he liked to fish, play pool, floor curl, bowl, and socialize with friends at the Seniors Centre and Legion. We will always remember Peter for his compassion for his friends and family, his reputation to have a joke for any occasion, as well as, his charismatic, outgoing personality that seemed to attract great people no matter where he lived.
He is survived by his wife Elsie, children Dennis (Caroline), Jeanne, Stan (Debbie), and their children as well as three great- grandchildren. He also leaves to morn, his very special Aunt Emily Surby, brother Ed (Lorraine), and sister Kaye.
We are saddened to part ways with such a good man, but we are fortunate to have lived, loved and laughed with him. May he rest peacefully, as we hold on to our many cherished memories. As Peter wished, cremation has taken place, there will be no funeral, and he will have a private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made under his name via the Westlock Funeral Home to the Royal Canadian Legion (Br. 97) or the Westlock Seniors Centre c/o 10004 – 105 Street, Westlock, AB T7P 1V2.
