It is with the heaviest of hearts that I, Karen, must announce the passing of my mother, Victoria, 92, on Christmas evening with me by her side. Victoria was a fighter, but this second bout of pneumonia was too much even for her.
Victoria leaves to mourn her only child, Karen; two nieces, Carla and Elaine; nephew, Phillip; cousin, Alex; close friends, Eva Wengreniuk, Barb Melynchuk, and Jenny Osborn, as well as many other friends and acquaintances. Victoria worked hard all her life and never got anything the easy way. She married Eric, and had one daughter, Karen, to whom she was totally devoted and lived for. She worked for 16 years at Sears Bonnie Doon for Mr. R. Belseth. She looked after the seasonal "Trim a Tree Shop" and garden shop in addition to her regular department. Victoria lived her faith, and taught Sunday School at St. Stephen's United for 16 years, many of them with her late, dear best friend, Ann Evanchuk. Victoria was legendary for her baking, cooking, and entertaining, and especially Karen's childhood birthday parties. Victoria was predeceased by her parents, Katherine (1952) and John (1977); her brother, Albert; sister, Eileen; niece, Rose-Marie, and husband, Eric (1987).
Special thanks to the Emergency Room staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Hospital Unit 41, and nurse Amy, and the staff of Holyrood Extendicare. Also, a deeply heartfelt thank you to Holyrood caregivers, Ewa and Kavita, for always going above and beyond the call of duty, and their kindness any of the evenings they worked with her.
Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday, December 30 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue.
