November 13, 1919 – December 25, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of Mike Tanasiuk announces his passing away on December 25, 2012.
Mike was born on November 13, 1919 in Andrew, Alberta. After growing up in Rock Island, Mike and his brother Jim ran many successful businesses in the Calling Lake area until 1980 when they moved to Creston, B.C. to retire. Mike was a hard working man who loved nature and the outdoors.
Mike is survived by his sister, Helen (Norm) Runzer of North Vancouver; brother, John (Rose) Tanasiuk of Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Rose Tanasiuk; five brothers: Nick, Bill, Jim, Alex and Danny; and four sisters: Lena, Doris, Ann, Eunice. A Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Elia, 11833 – 66 Street, Edmonton, AB with Father George Podtepa officiating. Interment to follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation, 10985 – 124 Street, Edmonton, AB T5M 0H9.
