It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
John MacNaughton passed away on January 6, 2013 at the age of 87 years. John is survived by Dorothy, his loving wife of 67 years; sons Dave (Marilyn), Ron (Charline Boudreau) and Jim (Lois) MacNaughton, and daughter Carol (Len) Mudryk; granddaughter Kim (Ogi) Radmilovic, and grandsons Eric, Scott (Becky) and David MacNaughton; sisters Alice MacNaughton and Joan (Wilf) Stephen; numerous nieces and nephews, other close family members, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Willard (Flick) Helm, and his brother Fred and sister-in-law Joanne MacNaughton.
Born in Eston, Saskatchewan to Robert and Nellie MacNaughton, John left home in 1942 at the age of 17 to enlist in the RCAF. In addition to three years serving in the war effort, he spent 22 years in the military, during which he was posted with his family to many different airbases across Canada. He retired from the Airforce in 1970, and moved the family to Edmonton. He then worked for the Alberta Liquor Control Board for 14 years before retiring in 1984, and enjoying many years travelling with friends in both Canada and the United States.
The family would like to thank the attending physicians and nurses at both the University of Alberta Hospital and Grandview Care Centre for their care and support.
