ROZAK, Mary (nee Dmytrowsky)
May 4, 1932 - February 17, 2013
Mary Rozak passed away with her family by her side, after a long battle with cancer.
Mary was born to Eva and Alexander Dmytrowsky, who immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's from Barich, Ukraine. Her parents settled in Eldorena, AB, where Mary was born and raised on the family farm. She married William (Bill) Rozak in 1955, and together they made Redwater, AB their home. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill; her three sons, Barry (Christine), Tom (Sue) and Allan (Donna). Mary also leaves four grandchildren, Michael, Larissa, Spencer and Elizabeth; two sisters, Ann (Cecil) Orr and Natalka (Tom) Korpesio; one brother, John (Irene) Dmytrowsky; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was a wonderful and supportive wife and mother, and touched many lives with her caring and giving personality.
Mary enjoyed her family, friends, hobbies and community and traveled to many different parts of Canada and the world. She also worked to promote and preserve her Ukrainian heritage and was a member of several branches of the local Ukrainian Church Womens' Associations.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff of the Cross Cancer Institute and the Redwater Health Centre for the compassion and care they provided to Mary.
Prayer Service will be held on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Elia, 11833 - 66 Street, Edmonton, AB with Funeral Rite Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment to follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery, 20303 Meridian Street N.E. (North on Manning Drive, turn East on 195 Avenue and follow the signs). In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 201, 9452 – 51 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6E 5A6, the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2 or to the Redwater Health Centre, 4812 - 58 Street, Redwater, AB T0A 2W0.
