BILLEY, Robert (Bob)
1943 - 2013
With his wife at his side, Robert Billey, of St. Albert, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013 at the age of 70.
Bob is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 47 years, Valerie, and their two children, Colette (Wally) and Clayton (Marni); four grandsons, Tanner, Nate, Kai and Rett; two sisters, Lorna (Barrie) McClarty and Carol (Graham) Jones; a brother, Raymond (Wendy) and a sister-in-law, Doreen Goroniuk; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bob was born in Willingdon, Alberta, on March 15, 1943, the second child of Mike and Mary Billey. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Donald.
After completing his post-secondary education, he worked in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Alberta for 37 years. He was always quick to differentiate between cement and concrete to anyone. When he retired in 2004, he became a family cook, winemaker, avid reader, bargain shopper and traveller.
Many remember Bob as a very private person, a faithful and loyal husband, a dedicated and loving father, and a proud grandpa. His subtle humour, kind, gentle ways and respectful demeanour will be dearly missed by friends and family. A true gentleman.
A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 - St. Albert Trail, Edmonton, Alberta on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at St. Stephen's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (Mesothelioma Research) Cross Cancer Institute, Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, or the Mel Miller Hospice, Unit 9Y, at the Edmonton General Care Centre.
