Michael VOLCAN Obituary
On June 25, 2013, Michael "Mike" Volcan of Edmonton passed away at the age of 80 years.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Michele (Ted) Heimdal of Sherwood Park, AB; two sons, Mickey Volcan of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Marty (Cathy) Volcan of Edmonton, AB, and five grandchildren, Brennan, Dillan, Michael, Caitlyn and Nolan. Predeceased by his former wife, Sylvia and brother, John.
Memorial Service Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue with Reverend Joshua Phillpotts officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut, 10985 - 124 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 0H9.

My heart and sympathies go out to the Volcan family. Mike sold me my first home and he was a very nice and straight forward guy. I also can remember him as an Edmonton Eskimo when I was a kid. God speed Mike.

In 1967 when I first came to Edmonton, I got a job driving a delivery van, and we used to buy all our gas at Mike's, which was located at 103 Avenue and 106 Street. I then started filling up my personal vehicle there. I always found Mike to be a very open and fun guy. One time, after teasing him, he ran me down and got me in a bear hug. He was a very quick and fit individual. The thing I was left with was how physically strong and powerful a man he was. I remember Mike Volcan fondly and enjoyed our relationship through the Esso station.

Your Dad was just a wonderful guy...he came in to see us fewer times as the years went by but every time he was in the office it was just fun...the stories he would tell and the twinkle in his eye....everyone wanted to know who was that guy! Once we told them the rest they just smiled and said your lucky to know him. I have to agree......Chris, Bill and Raylene

Mike and I were good friends in Hamilton during the 1950's. I have many fond memories of those times of laughter and jokes.
