MANDRUSIAK, Katie (nee Hryniw)
December 10, 1919 - August 18, 2013
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Katie Mandrusiak, 93 years, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
Katie is loved and missed by her four children: Maurice (Linda) Mandrusiak, Cecille (Vern) Nast, David (Cathy) Mandrusiak, and Susanne (Pierre) Caouette. She is survived by eleven grandchildren: James (Jessie) Nast, Christy (Adrian) Peat, Trina (Marc) Kuzik, Jeannette Mandrusiak, Lisa Mandrusiak (Alva Worden), Kathryn Mandrusiak (Dave Brown), Aimee Green, Joseph Caouette, Erin (Pete) Saville (of England), DJ Mandrusiak, and Allie Mandrusiak. Baba- Baba is remembered with love by eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Hayley, William, David, Katelyn, Ashley and Scarlett, who brought a sparkle to her life. She is survived by one brother, Norman (Penny); sister-in-law Mary Hryniw along with numerous relatives and friends.
Katie was predeceased by her husband William J. Mandrusiak after 67 years of marriage; her parents, Dora and Harry Hryniw; sisters Annie Prymak, Rosie Shewaga, Mary Camozzi and Margaret Zailo; and her brothers William, Sam, Harry, Joe, and Peter Hryniw.
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Two Hills Senior Citizens' Centre. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Two Hills with Rev. Fr. Wasyl Sapiha officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Cross Cancer Institute for breast cancer research would be gratefully appreciated. We would also urge folks to donate blood. The family thanks the staff at Hillside Lodge and the staff at Two Hills Long Term Care for their kindness and compassion during our mother's journey.
