ANDERSON, Larry (Lawrence)
March 14, 1933 – October 17, 2013
It is with great sorrow the family of Larry Anderson announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Drayton Valley, Alberta.
Larry was born March 14, 1933 as Lawrence Glenn in Edmonton, Alberta. He was adopted at the age of six years from the Kiwanis Home, by Olaf and Nora Anderson of Bardo, Alberta.
After Larry completed his education at Bardo and Camrose Lutheran Bible College he joined the Army in Edmonton in June 1951, trained in Val Cartier, Quebec, was sent to Germany with the NATO Forces during the Berlin Crisis, then to Victoria, Wainwright and Greisbach where he left the forces in 1966 on medical discharge.
He became a Social Worker and then went into Insurance Sales until he became ill.
Upon retirement he kept himself busy with wood working that he sold at various Farmer's Markets.
Larry and his wife Sheila moved to Drayton Valley in 2002.
Larry leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory his wife and best friend Sheila of 40 years, daughters, Karen (Roman), Susan (Roger), Theresa (David), Sandra (Darrell), Shaunna (Stephen), sons, Donald, Peter, Kenneth (Heidi), Darrell (Bonnie) as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, four brothers, one sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, as well as many relatives and friends.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Nora and Olaf Anderson and Ethel and George Glenn, two brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Life Church, 5115 - 50 Avenue, Drayton Valley with Interment of his cremated remains to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Drayton Valley Health Services Foundation, Palliative Care, 4550 Madsen Avenue, Drayton Valley, AB T7A 1N8.
