I first met Larry when I was a PE undergrad at Memorial University, where he taught PE and coached the University hockey team. Later he served as one of my MA thesis advisors and later my doctoral supervisor. He was always encouraging me to continue studies in secondary education, often beyond what I thought I could accomplish... such was Larry. He was a friend, a colleague, a confidante and always a mentor. I am so sad that I did not learn of his passing until now... as I spoke to him in November to tell him I was planning to visit him in May. Please accept my sincere sympathies and best wishes.

I had the privilege of knowing Larry when he was a professor and hockey coach at Memorial University of Newfoundland in the early 70s. I played on his varsity team for three years and all his players would give everything they had for Larry, our coach and friend. I have mentioned his name many times over the years for the influence he had on my life after those short three years.

Dear Beauchamp Family:
Larry was the one who assured this over-the-hill educator in 1997that his Faculty would welcome her there. And it did, and changed my life. I will be forever grateful for his support and encouragement, and will remember him with affection always.
Sincerely,
Deanna Binder

Larry was one of the brightest light in our Faculty. His door always open, very compassionate, not judgemental, always finding time to listen. What a prince! We will miss him!

We will remember him for many things (his leadership, integrity, collegiality, common sense, frankness, sense of humour and the list goes on and on). He was a truly remarkable man and we feel so privilege to have worked with him.

I am saddened by Larry's passing. Larry was an outstanding colleague with great personal qualities. He had a great sense of humour and wit, he was honest, caring, hard working, ethical, supportive and most of all, Larry was fun to work with. I cherish the fond memories working with Larry in Secondary Physical Education.
My deepest sympathy to Larry's family.

Loved talking hockey with Larry. The Oilers drove both of us to distraction! I very much valued his work as our Dean - he was a straight shooter and a fine human being.

I had the privilege of working with Larry when he was a Professor, Associate Dean and Dean and he was always a dream to work with. He was a very caring person and treated both students and staff with respect and honesty. Every day he would have a smile on his face, and his great sense of humour would uplift the staff during the day. He will be sadly missed by many. My condolences to the family at this sad time.

Larry and I met when we arrived at the University of Denver in September 1960. In four years as a teammate and fellow student I always viewed Larry as the consummate student-athelete.The last time Larry and I visited was a few years ago in the Student Union of the U of A..It was just like yesterday. I will always have fond memories of Larry! Condolences to the family, we have lost a memorable man!

Larry and I attended the University of Denver in the early sixties. Larry was such a well rounded individual: athletic, scholastic, goal-orientated, steady and well liked by his teammates and his friends. He was a person that you never forget.
Condolences to the family.

I will miss Uncle Larry very much. One of the four Uncle Larry's in our family, he now joins our other Uncle Larry in Heaven... laughing, talking sports, smoking cigars, and maybe even a little piano music. Larry is one of the role models of four young boys who still talk about his tough love for us and his wonderful daughters (our cousins), Tracy and Kendra. His legacy will always live on in our hearts and stories for generations.

What a sad day with Larry's passing. Our deepest condolences to the family. He was a wonderful colleague and a great friend. Larry's commitment to Secondary Education and the Faculty of Education was total. We worked together for many years and I always found him to be the ultimate professional, unswerving in his desire to make life a little better for all of us. His presence helped us to strengthen our sense of community. The legacy he leaves will be carried on by the many colleageues and students who's lives he has influenced. He will be missed but fondly remembered. Linda and I feel blessed to have had such a good friend over the many years.

May I extend my condolences to Larry's family. It's difficult to find enough words to express what a great guy he was. Having worked with him at the U of A, I found Larry to be a decent, friendly, straightforward, no nonsense person who could be counted on when things were difficult. If you knew him you had to like him. He will be missed very much.

I had the great privilege as a department head in the Faculty of Education of reporting to Larry when he was Dean. He was a wonderful storyteller, with a great sense of humour and a quick wit who never seemed flustered by anything. I admired him very much. My deepest condolences to Larry's family.

To the family; our deepest sympathies to all; Larry was one of those individuals in life who were so willing to assist others regardless of his own time; his impact on so many of us grad students at the UofA will go on for many many years.
