Raymond, Pamela
Pamela Raymond, known to her family and friends as "Lulu," passed into external rest on Nov. 10, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Lake Charles, La., on March 31, 1958. She was a lifetime resident of Effingham County; however, she lived the last four years of her life in Hawaii. Pamela was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and Elam Egypt Baptist Church. She was very active in the Egypt community, always doing for others. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a master's degree in special education and she was a member of the honor society. She taught in Effingham County for several years. She was drawn to Hawaii where so many children were so needy. The last few years she taught a work readiness program for older youth, giving them a chance in life. The students, teachers and families that she left behind were devastated. A beautiful memorial was held for her at Iao Valley in Maui on Nov. 15. "Lulu" was an organ donor; she gave in death as well as in life. Today there are three people rejoicing for the gifts of life. Her family is in awe of this beautiful gift. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles W. Morel Sr. Survivors include: her daughter, Carrie Ann Raymond Baird of Glendale, Ariz.; son, Ethan Michael Raymond of the United States Navy; mother, Martha Hunter Morel of Guyton; two sisters, Deborah Kicklighter of Guyton and Charlene Kilgore (Keith); brother, Bucky (Amy) Morel; two nieces, Emily Kilgore and Addison Helton; three nephews, Travis Kilgore, Ethan Helton and Charlie Morel; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and childhood friends whose memories are dear and precious. A memorial service will be held at Mizpah United Methodist Church on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to come share this special time.
