Christopher Neil Saxon, age 60, died at Tattnall Healthcare Center in Reidsville on May 27, 2013 after a long illness.
Chris worked in the construction field most of his life. Even though Chris attended other churches in his adult life, he was baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic. He loved the Holy Bible and was involved with Free Chapel in Gainesville by preaching, teaching and being the outreach minister. His interests were animals, art and music. Chris graduated from Sacred Heart School in Savannah in 1966 and from Jenkins High in Savannah in 1971.
Chris is predeceased by his mother, Josephine Stummer Saxon; his father, Charles Marion Saxon Jr.; and his brother, Robert Anthony Saxon.
Chris is survived by three sisters, Charline S. Reynolds of Rincon, Margaret S. Neal (Larry) of Ellabell, and Alicia S. Morgan (Gerald) of Rincon; three brothers, William E. "Bill" Saxon (Brenda) of Marlow, Frank M. Saxon (Jill) of Franklin, N.C., and Joseph G. "Joe" Saxon (Marilyn) of Savannah; one uncle, Calvin E. Saxon (Lamar) of Brooklet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his ex-wife, Patti Hunter Saxon of Clarksville.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Tattnall Healthcare for their loving care of Chris. Chris considered them and the other residents his extended family and called Tattnall Healthcare his "home." The family also wished to thank Dr. Vladesku for his excellent care of Chris.
Visitation was Thursday, May 30 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
A memorial service was held Friday, May 31 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Earl Saxon will conduct the service. Chris' cremains will be interred at a later date.
