George M. Mosley, 91, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Effingham Hospital.
The Lyons native was a member of Guyton Christian Church where he was an Elder Emeritus. He was a Master Mason and member of the Guyton Masonic Lodge No. 428 F.& A.M. for over 50 years, served on the Planters Telephone Board of Directors for over 20 years, and retired after 43 years from Union Camp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
with the 7th Infantry Division in the Pacific and was wounded on the island of Guam.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 66 years, Irma Pevey Mosley; loving daughter and son-in-law, Connie Mosley Turner and Michael Turner of Delray Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, Coy and Delores Mosley, Sandy and Tommy Odom, Betty McLendon, Bruce Mosely, Dennis Mosley; several great-nieces and great-nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Jelane Battle, John and Quinell Sullivan, Reed Pevey, and Rachel Pevey.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 2, from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Guyton Christian Church.
Interment will be in Guyton Cemetery.
